I've recently taken a month off of business. My mother-in-law was under hospice care and recently succumbed to her cancer last week. It was one of the hardest things we've ever walked through. But during this time, our family has maintained a strength and unity that can only come through strong love and faith. We all have peace knowing that she is no longer suffering and are thankful that we had the opportunity to laugh and cry with her, let her know how much we love her, and say our final goodbyes.
During the last month I've missed picking up my camera regularly. But most of all, more than ever, I recognize the important of capturing those family memories. As we prepare this week for the memorial service, we have been pouring through folders (both physical and digital) and folders of photos. I'm so thankful for the pictures we have of my mother-in-law with our kids. Those are memories that we can never re-create now. Even more reason for me to keep my camera in hand.
Being with family also gave me the opportunity to take photos of my nephew for his 2nd birthday. Here's a little man that is such a bright light. He's sweet and engaging and joyful and I just love him to bits.
Please don't send me emails that I shouldn't be perching toddlers on porch railings. I promise that his Daddy was holding him from behind. I just edited Daddy out. And of course I HAD to take some pictures of the cutest niece in the whole world.
