The Face of Diabetes

This is Emily. She has Type 1 diabetes and I had the privilege of doing some head shots for her that will be used by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) for some posters. She is a really cool little girl and it's hard to believe what she has to endure with her diabetes. Every day Emily tests her blood 6-10 times. She requires insulin every time she eats (even healthy food). She deals with low blood sugars that take her brain 24 hours to recover from. She wears an insulin pump 24 hours a day and dreams of a cure. Research has come a long way and we are hopeful that a cure will be found soon.

The Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation raises funds to find a cure for type 1 diabetes. Eighty cents of every dollar raised goes directly towards research. One of JDRF's biggest fundraisers is yearly walks. Emily's family started Emily's Cure Crew last year and were amazed when they raised $4,500. But more is needed. For more information on how to donate to this great cause... click HERE. Thanks!
